Murray Williams - CEO/Chairman, Affiliates Management Company
Murray Williams serves as the board chairman and CEO of Affiliates Management Company (AMC) and has held this role since July 2018. In this position, he provides governance oversight and innovative leadership for Coopera, PolicyWorks Iowa, ViClarity and First Community Trust, N.A. Murray also serves as the president and CEO of the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL). Murray has been with AMC and its family of companies since 1996. He earned his Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation through the American Society of Association Executives and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Executive Program. Murray received his MBA and a BA with honors from Iowa State University. He has served on the CUNA Strategic Services board along with other industry leadership roles. Murray has been inducted into the International Executive Volunteer Corps for the World Council of Credit Unions and is a recipient of the Leadership and Support Award by the Network of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals. He is former chairman of the national Public Relations Society of America's Association/Nonprofit Section and is active in his local community, including serving on the Des Moines Social Club board of directors.
Tim Chapman - CEO, Members Community Credit Union
Tim Chapman has served as CEO of Members Community Credit Union in Muscatine, Iowa since 1996. Prior to that he was a loan officer at the credit union. Tim received his BBA in finance from Iowa State University and completed CUNA Management School at the University of Wisconsin. He is an honorary director and past board chair of the Iowa Credit Union League, previously sitting on the AMC Board during his time as Vice Chair and Chair of the League. Tim has served on many league committees and task forces during his tenure. He is a founding board member of Cooperative Technology Solutions and board member of Community Business Lenders, both CUSOs. In 2019 he received the Iowa Credit Union League’s Professional Cooperative Spirit Award.
Monica Fischer - Consultant
Monica Fischer serves as a consultant to Iowa nonprofit organizations as a representative for a private charitable foundation that provides anonymous financial investment in the human and social services sector. Prior to beginning this work in 2006, Monica served for more than 12 years in state government, including as Deputy Director of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, Communication Director for the Iowa Finance Authority and Press Secretary in the Office of the Governor. She is active with the Iowa Council of Foundations and the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines and has served on several nonprofit boards. She received her Master of Public Administration from Southern Illinois University and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Iowa.
Vada Grantham - CEO, Abidica
Vada and his wife started their first company in 1987 in the food promotion industry where they provided food samples in the supermarkets and Costco stores for a client list of General Mills, Keebler, Pillsbury, Nabisco, Kraft and more. They sold the company in 1999 with over 500 employees in eight Midwestern states. Today, Vada is a major shareholder in a full-service research firm located in downtown Des Moines and CEO of Abidica, a consulting firm with headquarters in Des Moines, IA and operations in West Africa (Cote d’ ivoire/Ivory Coast) where they specialize in real estate development and mining. Vada is also a professor at DMACC where he teaches business courses. He received a BA degree in Business from Grand View College in 1987. He has mentored and judged numerous investor start-up business competitions for the private and public sector.
Jeff Hayes - President/CEO, North Star Community Credit Union
Jeff Hayes joined North Star Community Credit Union (Cherokee, IA) as President/CEO in 2003, previously working through the banking industry in several areas, including branch management, consumer, commercial, residential mortgage lending, etc. He also served five years as a legislative budget analyst for the Rhode Island State Senate.
After graduating high school from Taipei American School in Taiwan, Republic of China, Jeff served a two-year full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, laboring in the Nevada-Las Vegas Mission. Afterward, he attended Ricks College (Rexburg, ID) and then transferred to Brigham Young University (Provo, UT), earning a Bachelor of Science in Financial Business Management. In 2007, Jeff graduated from CUNA Management School (Madison, WI). Having served in many areas of opportunity, Jeff currently serves as Vice Chair of the Iowa Credit Union League Board. At home in the community, he has served in several capacities, presently serving as Chair of the City of Cherokee’s Planning & Zoning Commission, and Treasurer of the Cherokee Development Corporation.
Lucy Ito - Retired, President and CEO, NASCUS
Lucy Ito has more than 30 years of diverse executive experience as a highly respected leader in various segments of the credit union industry across the globe. She served as the interim CEO of Orange County’s Credit Union in California, and previously led the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) as President and CEO for more than seven years. Prior to her tenure at NASCUS, she was an Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer at the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, and served as Vice President of the World Council of Credit Unions for 5 years. Ito was awarded the prestigious National Credit Union Foundation’s Herb Wegner Memorial Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in 2021.
Scott Zahnle - CEO, Greater Iowa Credit Union
Scott Zahnle serves as President and CEO of Greater Iowa Credit Union in Ames, Iowa. In this position he supports Greater Iowa’s progress and growth by successfully leading branch expansion projects and helping the credit union surpass the $300 million-asset mark in 2012. Prior to his current role, Zahnle was executive vice president at IH-Mississippi Valley Credit Union headquartered in Moline, Illinois. Zahnle has served on the Iowa Credit Union League Advocacy Committee and the PSCU Strategic Advisory Group. In 2013, he was appointed as a member of the Iowa Credit Union Review Board, with re-appointment in 2016. He served as vice chair from 2014-2015. In 2015, Zahnle was appointed to the Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL) Transfer System, Inc. Board of Directors, the Credit Union National Association Banking Industry Technology Secretariat (BITS) Liaisons Task Force and the Financial Services Council. Zahnle was elected to the ICUL Board of Directors in 2016, 2019 and 2022.
He is very active in a wide-range of community and philanthropic endeavors, serving on the Leadership Committee for United Way of Story County, the Selection Committee for the Story County Alliance for Philanthropy Awards, the Ames Chamber Board Nominating Committee and as a member of the Ames Economic Development Commission Board of Directors. Zahnle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Iowa.
